Criterion Capital has acquired Mansell Court near Tower Bridge, marking the next phase in the rapid expansion of its Zedwell hotel brand.

The 200-room property will be transformed into Zedwell Tower Bridge, becoming the brand’s second location in the City of London following the purchase of One Princes Street in November 2024.

The new site strengthens Criterion’s foothold in one of the capital’s most visited areas and expands Zedwell’s UK pipeline to over 9,000 rooms, with additional openings planned for York, Manchester, Edinburgh and further London locations.

Developed in-house, the Zedwell concept offers a sleep-optimised experience, centred on purpose-built, windowless cocoons designed to promote rest and recovery. Each room features body-cushioning mattresses, ambient lighting, purified air, and noise-reducing walls, all engineered to deliver a calming, sensory-neutral environment free from distractions.

Halima Aziz, head of hotels at Criterion, said: “The acquisition of Mansell Court is an exciting addition to our expanding portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our innovative Zedwell concept to a second site in the City of London. This milestone not only strengthens our presence in one of the world’s most visited destinations but also reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering accessible, environmentally responsible, and thoughtfully designed urban retreats.”

Zedwell Tower Bridge aligns with the City of London’s ‘Destination City’ strategy, which seeks to reinvent the Square Mile as a seven-day-a-week hub for culture, tourism and sustainable growth. With its distinctive, wellness-led concept, Zedwell is positioned to support this vision while catering to modern urban travellers seeking simplicity, quality rest and affordability in prime locations.

Criterion Capital, best known for its redevelopment projects across central London, has rapidly grown Zedwell into one of the capital’s most distinctive emerging hotel brands since launching its flagship at Piccadilly Circus in 2020.
