Glen Moray, the Elgin-based Speyside distillery with over 125 years of whisky-making heritage, has unveiled its boldest experiment yet: two limited edition Tequila cask finished single malts.

These small-batch releases mark the tenth addition to the distillery’s acclaimed Warehouse 1 Collection, a series known for pushing the boundaries of cask maturation.

Crafted on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897, Glen Moray has built a reputation for smooth, fruity single malts and a spirit of innovation. The Warehouse 1 Collection—named after the distillery’s famed blue warehouse—is where its craftsmen age their most adventurous whiskies, from Amarone and Tokaji finishes to now, Tequila.

The duo includes Glen Moray Tequila Cask Finish (£85) and Glen Moray Peated Tequila Cask Finish (£95), each matured for eight years in Bourbon casks before being finished in Tequila barrels. The result? Two distinct expressions that showcase the interplay between Speyside malt and the herbal sweetness of agave.

The Tequila Cask Finish is a revelation—non-chill filtered and bottled at 55.2% ABV, it opens with soft vanilla custard, toasted almonds and currants, followed by earthy thyme and citrus. The finish is long and spiced, with notes of aged leather and polished oak. It’s smooth, layered, and surprisingly elegant.

The Peated Tequila Cask Finish, bottled at 58.5% ABV, is a smoky counterpart. Expect aromas of rose petals, dark chocolate and smoked thyme, with a palate of roasted banana and hazelnuts. The finish lingers with sweet embers and floral smoke—a dram that’s both luxurious and intriguing.

With only 474 bottles of each available from select UK retailers, these whiskies are ideal for corporate gifting. Their rarity, craftsmanship and conversation-starting flavour profiles make them perfect for clients, colleagues or whisky aficionados seeking something truly original.

In short, Glen Moray’s Tequila cask duo is a spirited celebration of curiosity and craft. Whether gifting or collecting, these whiskies offer a taste of Speyside tradition with a bold, agave-infused twist.
