Kerzner International and Assets Group have confirmed plans for a landmark resort in the Maldives, with Atlantis The Royal, Maldives set to open in 2029.
Located on Vaaredhdhoo Faru island in South Malé Atoll, the £360m development will span 1.3 million square metres and feature over 5.8km of beachfront. The dual‑island resort will combine a Family Island and Luxury Island, offering 493 keys across hotel rooms, villas and mansions.
Highlights include:
- 20 dining venues and two beach clubs, including signature restaurants such as Gastronomy, Ossiano and Royal Tea Room.
- A 70,000m² Aquaventure waterpark with 15 rides, plus a Lost Chambers Aquarium showcasing native marine life.
- A wellness sanctuary with spa, yoga platform, recovery studio and botanical alchemy zone.
- Premium retail, event spaces, sports academies and entertainment zones.
Kerzner CEO Philippe Zuber said the project will “reimagine Atlantis through the lens of the Maldives, blending visionary design with nature’s masterpiece.” Sustainability will be central, with coral regeneration, energy efficiency and water conservation integrated into the resort’s design.
Assets Group Chairman Moutaz Al Khayyat added: “This project underscores our commitment to developing iconic places that inspire, elevate, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.”
Accessible by seaplane in 10 minutes or speedboat in 25 minutes from Velana International Airport, Atlantis The Royal Maldives is positioned to become one of the region’s most significant luxury hospitality destinations.
