China Southern Airlines, a codeshare partner of Qatar Airways, has unveiled plans for a new route from Guangzhou to Doha, commencing with four weekly direct flights starting from April 22nd.
The new direct flights will be operated utilizing China Southern’s three-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 28 business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, 28 premium economy seats in a 2-3-2 layout, and 220 economy class seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.
China Southern joins a growing list of carriers introducing new services to Doha, following in the footsteps of Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, Iberia, and Xiamen Airlines.
As a prominent member of the SkyTeam alliance, China Southern Airlines stands as one of China’s largest airlines, boasting an extensive network with approximately 3,000 daily flights to over 200 destinations worldwide.
This collaboration marks Qatar Airways’ second codeshare partnership in China, alongside Xiamen Airlines. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, expressed his welcome to China Southern Airlines, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two carriers and their commitment to enhancing travel connections between China and global destinations.
President of China Southern Air Holding Company, Han Wensheng, emphasized the significance of the newly launched Guangzhou-Doha route in bolstering connectivity and fostering exchanges between China and nations participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, spanning trade, tourism, and cultural endeavors.
The introduction of China Southern Airlines’ flights will complement Qatar Airways’ existing daily service between Doha and Guangzhou. Departures from Guangzhou to Doha are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 19:20 local time, arriving in Qatar at 22:50. Return flights from Doha to Guangzhou will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 01:15 and arriving back in Guangzhou at 13:40 local time.
