Car rental provider Enterprise Holdings has expanded operations into South Africa following a franchise agreement with Woodford Group, the country’s largest independent car rental company.

The agreement will see the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands made available in South Africa for the first time, including at key locations such as Cape Town International Airport, OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, King Shaka International Airport in Durban and four inner-city branches across the country.

Enterprise Holdings assistant vice president of global franchising – EMEA, Jon Flansburg, said the company aims to partner with “local providers that have a strong reputation for customer service excellence”.

He added: “Our new partner in South Africa has always put an emphasis on bringing a personal touch to its service, and its investment in technology and wide selection of vehicles will ensure the best possible experience for our customers.”

Established in 1991, the Woodford Group provides logistic solutions and an online vehicle auction platform. It has also invested in technology ‘to automate and simplify customer interactions’.

The move into South Africa follows a period growth for Enterprise after the company entered the African market in 2019 with operations in Egypt and announced plans for expansion into Morocco earlier this year. It currently operates in more than 90 countries and territories.
