Hilton is celebrating a significant milestone with the opening of its 3,000th hotel under the select service Hampton by Hilton brand.

This achievement marks a remarkable journey for the brand, which originally began as Hampton Inn in 1984, making it 40 years old this year. Hilton acquired the brand in 1999 as part of its acquisition of the Promus Hotel Corporation.

Since its inception, Hampton by Hilton has experienced steady growth, with the UK’s first property opening in Corby in 2009. In 2019, the brand celebrated the milestone of 2,500 hotels, and now, just five years later, it has reached 3,000 properties. This accomplishment represents approximately 40% of Hilton’s entire portfolio, firmly establishing Hampton by Hilton as a leading brand in the hospitality industry. It significantly surpasses the group’s next largest brand, Hilton Garden Inn, which has around 1,000 properties.

While Hilton has not disclosed the exact location of the 3,000th property, several new properties are sharing the spotlight, including locations in Texas, Istanbul, Kuwait, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Michigan. Additionally, the brand recently opened its third central London hotel, the Hampton by Hilton London Old Street, showcasing its global reach.

Looking ahead, Hampton by Hilton has ambitious plans for further expansion, with upcoming openings in 2024 including properties in Malaga, Bordeaux, and Johannesburg. Last month, Hilton introduced a new North American prototype for the brand, featuring enhanced guest experiences and innovative design elements such as multi-functional task tables, improved bathroom design, and optimized in-room guest storage solutions.
