Hilton has officially opened three hotels at Barr Al Jissah, one of Oman’s most iconic waterfront destinations, signalling a significant new chapter for tourism along the country’s coastline.
Set between the dramatic cliffs of Al Jissah and the Gulf of Oman, the properties are owned by The Zubair Corporation and are located approximately 40 minutes from Muscat International Airport. Together, the openings introduce a mix of luxury, lifestyle and family-oriented hospitality under three distinct Hilton brands.
Guy Hutchinson, president, Middle East & Africa at Hilton, said the openings reflect Oman’s growing profile as a global travel destination. “As Oman’s travel and tourism sector continues to thrive, we are proud to open these three hotels at Barr Al Jissah – the country’s iconic seaside destination,” he said, adding that the partnership supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040 to attract 11 million visitors annually.
Niels Bormans, group chief executive officer of The Zubair Corporation, described the launch as a milestone for the destination. “We are pleased to welcome Hilton as the new operator of Barr Al Jissah Resorts. Their global expertise and shared commitment to quality will further elevate these properties and support long-term tourism growth and talent development in Oman.”
Each of the three hotels at Barr Al Jissah has been positioned to appeal to a different traveller profile while sharing the wider destination’s extensive leisure facilities.
Al Husn Hotel Muscat
Designed as a refined coastal retreat, Al Husn Hotel Muscat blends luxury with Omani heritage. The 180-room hotel offers uninterrupted views of the Gulf of Oman and is aimed at couples, honeymooners and travellers seeking privacy and tranquillity. Inspired by the architecture of an Omani fort, the property overlooks the wider resort and features a private beach, infinity pool and spa. Following planned renovations in 2027, the hotel will be rebranded as a Waldorf Astoria.
Hilton Muscat Al Bandar
Positioned as the destination’s lifestyle and events hub, Hilton Muscat Al Bandar caters to business travellers, conference groups and large celebrations. The 198-room hotel features extensive indoor and outdoor event facilities, including a ballroom for up to 850 guests, outdoor event lawns and a dedicated amphitheatre. Dining and social spaces include the lively La Jolla poolside bar alongside a range of restaurants and lounges.
DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Al Waha
Designed with families in mind, DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Al Waha offers a relaxed, village-style resort atmosphere across 302 rooms and suites. Guests are welcomed with the brand’s signature chocolate chip cookie, while facilities include multiple swimming pools, a waterslide and access to shared amenities across Barr Al Jissah. The architecture draws on the feel of a traditional Omani village, creating a strong sense of place.
A shared destination experience
Guests across all three hotels benefit from shared access to the wider Barr Al Jissah complex, which includes more than 500 metres of private beachfront, tennis courts, a lazy river and multiple swimming pools. Water sports such as kayaking and diving are available, supported by a PADI-certified dive centre catering to all experience levels.
Wellness facilities include The Spa, offering treatments inspired by Omani rose, and Luban Spa, known for its use of frankincense. Together, the amenities are designed to create a seamless resort experience across the destination.
The opening of the three Hilton-branded hotels positions Barr Al Jissah as a flagship coastal resort destination in the Middle East, reinforcing Oman’s ambitions to compete in the global luxury, leisure and events tourism market.
