IHG Hotels & Resorts has introduced the Shanghai Snow World Hotel as part of its Vignette Collection — a move that brings the brand’s distinct style of hospitality to the world’s largest indoor ski facility.
Located within the Guinness World Records-certified “World’s Largest Indoor Ski Facility” at the Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort, the hotel features 272 rooms and 17 suites, granting guests direct access to over 90,000 square metres of year-round snow.
This new-build property is the first Vignette Collection hotel in China and, together with Crowne Plaza Shanghai Snow, serves the growing appetite for ‘ice and snow’ tourism. According to the China Tourism Academy, this sector is expanding 38% year-on-year, reinforcing the appeal of the hotel’s swift access to ski slopes, water parks and a tournament-level ice rink — all within easy reach of its accommodations.
General Manager Irwin Bao notes that the resort is the ideal setting for a Vignette Collection property, promising an “oasis of discovery” for visitors. Guests can enjoy four unique restaurants and bars, including Teppanyaki on the 18th floor and The Peak on the top floor, both providing panoramic views of the indoor winter wonderland. A comprehensive events space on the third floor includes eight versatile meeting rooms and a spacious pre-function area, offering fresh possibilities for corporate and personal gatherings.
IHG’s Vignette Collection — introduced just three years ago — has already reached the halfway mark of its ambition to open or pipeline 100 hotels within a decade. Shanghai Snow World Hotel is the 19th Vignette Collection property in a global line-up that features contrasting landmarks such as the private villa resort NOKU Maldives, the soon-to-be-tallest hotel CIEL Tower in Dubai, and Osaka’s RIHGA Royal Hotel, rich with nearly a century of history.
Tom Rowntree, Vice President of Luxury & Lifestyle Brands at IHG, describes the Vignette Collection as a driver of “one-of-a-kind experiences”, bringing together forward-thinking concepts like Shanghai Snow World alongside heritage properties. As the brand continues its rapid growth, each new hotel seeks to enrich the overall portfolio, guaranteeing unique local experiences and unforgettable stays for guests around the world.
