ITA Airways has announced plans to increase the frequency of its London City-Milan Linate service next year.

The Italian carrier launched its route between the two airports in March 2022, with 18 flights per week (three times daily on weekdays, daily on Saturdays and twice daily on Sundays).

A fourth daily weekday service will be added in January 2024,  “in response to significant demand for the route from business and leisure travellers”.

ITA had been operating LCY-Milan flights with Embraer E190 jets wet leased from German Airways, but will now roster its new A220-100 onto the route, configured with 125 seats.

Commenting on the news Emiliana Limosani, chief commercial officer ITA Airways and CEO Volare, said: “We are pleased to be operating at London City, a favourite destination for business customers working in the British capital.

“We are also particularly proud to accompany our passengers with our brand new Airbus, which has just joined the fleet. The UK is a strategic market for ITA Airways, operating up to a maximum of 90 weekly roundtrip flights between London and its two hubs: Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate”.

British Airways also operates weekly seasonal services between London City and Milan Linate, while both ITA and BA offer year-round services to Milan’s close-in airport from London Heathrow, and easyJet flies from London Gatwick.
