JetBlue has inaugurated its newest transatlantic route, offering daily seasonal flights between New York JFK and Edinburgh.
This route marks the airline’s fifth transatlantic destination, adding to its existing services to Amsterdam, London, Paris, and its summer seasonal route to Dublin.
Flights from New York depart at 21:12, arriving in Edinburgh at 09:30 the following day. The return journey leaves Edinburgh at 12:30, landing back in New York at 15:06. JetBlue is deploying its A321neo aircraft for this route, featuring 16 Mint Suites and 144 economy seats, directly competing with Delta’s seasonal service on the same route.
In addition to the seasonal routes to Dublin and Edinburgh, JetBlue continues to operate year-round flights from both Boston and New York JFK to Gatwick and Heathrow. However, the airline has announced it will suspend its Gatwick flights for the upcoming winter season and reduce the frequency of its JFK to Paris CDG flights.
John Lamont, UK Government Minister for Scotland, commented on the route launch, stating: “Our relationship with the US is a special one. We welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to Scotland and the wider UK from North America every year, and it’s also our top export market. This new direct JetBlue route from Edinburgh to New York City will strengthen links between our two great countries.
“Just last month, I walked down Sixth Avenue with other representatives from the UK Government as part of the annual Tartan Day celebrations in Manhattan, promoting our most important exports – whisky, energy, financial services, and our rich culture. This flight route will make it easier for visitors from the US to see for themselves what a uniquely attractive destination we have here, while also easing travel for Scottish visitors wanting to explore the Big Apple and beyond.”
The introduction of this route underscores JetBlue’s commitment to expanding its transatlantic presence and enhancing connectivity between the US and Europe.
