The beloved townhouse offers a restorative retreat, with interiors inspired by the beauty of its surroundings and new dining at Fig, celebrating the best local produce

In the heart of Killarney town, Killarney Royal Townhouse, part of the Scally Hotel Collection, quietly enters a new phase, following the considered redesign of its bedrooms and the continued evolution of its food offering with Fig restaurant.

Long cherished for its warmth, heritage and sense of familiarity, the hotel has always been rooted in genuine hospitality and local connection. The redesign reflects how its guests wish to travel today: slowly, intentionally and with a connection to place. Whether visiting solo, as a couple or with friends, guests are drawn to Killarney Royal Townhouse for its calm atmosphere, proximity to Killarney’s natural landscapes and the opportunity to pause and reconnect.

A Natural Design Evolution

All 32 bedrooms have been fully refurbished under the direction of Tony Ladden Construction, with creative guidance from The Interiors Project team to refine the boutique hotel’s offering in a way that feels calm and intentional. Inspired by the relaxed elegance of the Cotswolds and Killarney’s natural palette, the interiors feature warm neutrals, soft greys and earthy tones layered with tactile fabrics. Four-poster beds nod to traditional townhouse style, while bespoke furniture pieces ensure comfort, proportion and flow.

Local Irish craftsmanship has been prioritised throughout, from bespoke joinery and detailing to collaborations with Mucross Weavers and works by local artist Declan Mulvany. Guided by a ‘less is more’ philosophy, the redesign allows the heritage elements to sit comfortably alongside contemporary touches, resulting in rooms that feel both familiar and fresh.

Dining Rooted in Place

The new Fig restaurant offers a relaxed, all-day menu of locally sourced, seasonal dishes, from artisan sandwiches and soups to fresh catch of the day and indulgent desserts, complemented by a curated wine list and handcrafted cocktails. Working towards sourcing 70% of its ingredients from local producers, the focus is on unhurried, convivial dining that reflects the townhouse’s ethos of connection and ease.

Community and Creativity

The hotel continues to engage with the local community, hosting events such as the upcoming Paint & Sip evening in partnership with Art House Killarney on Thursday 16th April, where guests can enjoy a guided painting session with complimentary wine, with proceeds going to Breakthrough Cancer Research.

A Townhouse Retreat Connected to Nature

While centrally located, Killarney Royal Townhouse provides a genuine sense of retreat. Guests can explore the Kingdom of Kerry, hike trails in Killarney National Park or follow the Wild Atlantic Way, returning to spaces designed for rest and reflection.

Killarney Royal Townhouse remains a characterful, quiet sanctuary where guests leave feeling lighter, refreshed, and deeply attuned to both the town and the surrounding landscapes.

Nightly rates at Killarney Royal Townhouse start from €285.
