Mandarin Oriental has unveiled plans for its first hotel in Rome, marking a significant expansion of its luxury portfolio in Italy.
The 108-room Mandarin Oriental, Rome will be situated within ten 19th-century villas nestled between Via Piemonte and Via Sallustiana, amidst The Gardens of Sallust.
The new property will offer a variety of dining options with six restaurants and bars, including al fresco dining, a unique standalone dining concept in one of the villas, and the Mandarin Bar on the rooftop. Guests will also enjoy an array of luxurious facilities, such as indoor and outdoor pools, landscaped gardens, six treatment rooms, thermal rooms, and a sundeck.
Scheduled to open in 2026, this new hotel will join the ranks of Mandarin Oriental, Milan, which opened in 2015, and Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como, a rebranded CastaDiva Resort and Spa. Additional properties are currently under development in Cortina and Cervo.
Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, commented on the expansion: “Rome is home to many historical and architectural treasures and a destination of choice for luxury travellers. We will take the same meticulous approach in Rome as we have with our other historic properties, ensuring that we honour and respect local artisanal craftsmanship and Roman cultural heritage, while incorporating the finest luxury, contemporary comfort, sustainability standards and the legendary service for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned.”
Kleitman expressed excitement about extending the Mandarin Oriental brand in Italy, aiming to create a landmark destination in Rome in collaboration with local partners.
