Cunard has announced an extensive refurbishment of Queen Mary 2, marking a new chapter for the world’s only true ocean liner as she prepares to enter dry dock in spring 2027.
The project represents a significant investment in the future of luxury ocean travel, ensuring the ship remains the benchmark for Transatlantic crossings for the next generation of travellers .
The refit will introduce new Grill Suites, refreshed staterooms, redesigned bathrooms and updated public spaces, all while preserving Queen Mary 2’s distinctive Art Deco identity and cinematic glamour. Thirty one new staterooms will be added, including sixteen Princess Grill Suites, alongside enhancements to the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants to maintain their signature exclusivity and comfort.
Guests will also benefit from expanded outdoor deck areas, refreshed classic deck games and upgraded kennels, the only dedicated pet facilities at sea, which will receive redesigned spaces and increased capacity.
Onboard wellness and entertainment will see major updates, including a transformed Mareel Wellness and Beauty space, new luxury retail stores and a digital upgrade to Illuminations, the largest planetarium at sea.
The refurbishment will take place at Damen Shiprepair Brest from March thirty one to May nine 2027, continuing a long standing partnership between Cunard and Damen’s French shipyard team .
Cunard President Katie McAlister said the project reflects deep respect for Queen Mary 2’s heritage, noting that the goal is not to reinvent the ship but to refine what guests already love and carry it forward beautifully.
