The Hoxton continues its expansion in Italy, with a new hotel set to open in Florence later this year. The hotel will breathe new life into a late-Renaissance palazzo, offering 161 rooms, including a unique three-bedroom house.
Guests can look forward to a spacious lobby, an Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant, a sprawling courtyard, a cosy late-night wine bar, and dedicated event spaces.
Located in the historical centre of Florence, The Hoxton will be surrounded by cobblestone streets filled with galleries, boutiques, and bakeries. Iconic landmarks such as the Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery are within walking distance, and Fortezza da Basso, the home of Pitti Uomo, is just a 10-minute stroll away.
The hotel spans two buildings: a 16th-century palazzo featuring its original facade and impressive vaulted arcade, and a 1980s Andrea Branzi-designed building with a modernist timber-slatted facade and minimal, linear architecture. These buildings are connected by an open-air courtyard with a cascading fountain and landscaped gardens, which serve as an outdoor dining space for the restaurant. The hotel’s rooms are distributed across the two buildings, each with distinct design schemes that embrace the original architecture. Some rooms offer views of the Duomo, others feature outdoor bathtubs or landscaped terraces, and some are split across two levels with a spacious lounge and sweeping spiral staircase.
A standout feature of The Hoxton, Florence is the ‘House’ category: a self-contained three-bedroom apartment complete with a kitchen, lounge, and a shaded private courtyard. This new category will also debut at The Hoxton, Edinburgh.
On the ground floor, guests will find an open-door lobby with comfy seating, cosy corners, and a coffee counter, inviting both guests and locals for quick espressos and classic cocktails. Alassio, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, focuses on fresh seafood and holiday-inspired dishes, spread across an intimate dining room, a vaulted winter garden, and a courtyard. The lively atmosphere and local produce will transport diners to the Italian Riviera. Enoteca Violetta, the cosy wine bar, offers an exciting collection of European wines in a relaxed setting.
The Hoxton, Florence also features two dedicated event spaces. A moody vaulted wine cellar (90 sqm) in the basement, with two connecting rooms and a feature bar, provides an intimate setting for events. A shaded rooftop terrace (130 sqm) with its own bar offers panoramic views across the city, perfect for gatherings. The courtyard will also be available for private hire, making it an ideal open-air venue for special events, such as fashion shows and weddings.
The Hoxton’s arrival in Florence promises to deliver a blend of historic charm and modern luxury, providing a unique and vibrant addition to the city’s hospitality scene.
