The Standard has announced that The Standard, Singapore, will open on 28 November 2024.
The property follows on the heels of the brand’s successful openings in Southeast Asia: The Standard, Hua Hin (2021) and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon (2022), both named to Conde Nast Traveller’s prestigious Hot List, with the former granted the distinction of being named the Best Resort in Southeast East Asia.
The Standard, Singapore, is nestled in the prestigious Orange Grove Road, steps away from the 150-year-old UNESCO Botanic Gardens and the vibrant Orchard Road shopping district. The property is an urban oasis that effortlessly embodies the vision of Singapore as a “City in a Garden.”
Created by Standard International’s acclaimed in-house design team in collaboration with Ministry of Design, The Standard, Singapore sits at the intersection of East and West, facilitating a rich cultural exchange. Situated on Orange Grove Road, the property will offer 143 thoughtfully designed rooms across eight floors each with floor-to-ceiling windows, offering views of the pool, and the lush greenery of the district. Guests can enjoy a serene moment in The Garden, which stretches across the first and second floors, leading up to The Pool. The path is lined with art installations and carefully selected landscape elements that set the perfect stage for Singapore’s equatorial sunsets. The property pays homage to the nearby botanical gardens and incorporates works from local artists and artisans.
The uniforms for The Standard, Singapore were designed by Shone Puipia and blend the spirit and utility of traditional uniforms blended with contrasting hues and textures that add vibrancy.
The Standard, Singapore’s culinary offerings will serve as cultural hubs not just for guests but residents of Singapore as well. Kaya at The Standard reimagines the Izakaya experience with bold flavors and an inventive cocktail program. Dishes at Kaya are Japanese-inspired but utilize regional ingredients. The menu will include nigiri, maki rolls and robatayaki accompanied by an extensive sake and whisky list. The restaurant blurs the line between the informality of Izakaya with refined ingredients and artful presentation. Adjacent to the restaurant sits the Kaya Bar, a sultry evening destination that brings the element of nightlife for which The Standard is known for.
On the ground floor sits Café Standard, a street-facing, buzzy neighbourhood spot. Its all-day menu boasts cravable American fare paired with natural wines and craft beers in a charming street-side bistro setting.
Amar Lalvani, President & Creative Director of Hyatt’s new lifestyle group states: “We couldn’t be more excited to open in Singapore. The city is going through an incredibly dynamic period and is emerging into an important global commercial, cultural and creative hub. Perfect for The Standard. We look forward to welcoming guests, as well as the local community, to explore our new urban oasis and its hidden treasures.”
