Eden Mill’s latest release, Summer in St Andrews, feels like a natural continuation of the distillery’s long-standing habit of bottling the character of its coastal hometown.
The team has always leaned into local botanicals and seasonal flavours, building a reputation for small-batch spirits that reflect the landscape around them. Over the years, Eden Mill has become known for capturing moments in time the brightness of summer berries, the sharpness of coastal citrus, the softness of Fife’s fruit farms and this limited edition follows that same philosophy with confidence. It arrives as an ode to St Andrews in the sun, a celebration of the brief but glorious Scottish summer that inspires it.
The gin itself came to life through Eden Mill’s desire to create something light, joyful and unmistakably seasonal. Senior brand manager Hamish Maclean describes it as a gin made for garden parties and beach picnics, something easy, breezy and built for long afternoons outdoors. Bright lemon leads the flavour profile sharp, clean and instantly refreshing before heady rhubarb rolls in with a soft tartness that lingers. Local raspberries and strawberries from Tarvit Farm in Cupar round everything out with a gentle sweetness, giving the gin a distinctly summery personality. Bottled at 40% ABV, it’s intentionally approachable: crisp, fruit-forward and designed to be poured long rather than sipped neat.
It’s a gin that pairs effortlessly with tonic and a lemon wheel, but it also shines when lengthened with soda or prosecco for a brighter, more celebratory serve. Lemonade softens it into an easy afternoon drink, making it versatile enough for both casual gatherings and more polished summer entertaining.
