KLM will introduce a new onboard service concept – Grand Café KLM—across its European network from October, offering passengers greater choice, flexibility and pre‑order options for meals and snacks.
The new model allows travellers to pre‑order dishes such as poke bowls and Caesar salads before departure , or select items onboard including a salmon‑egg wrap or yogurt with fruit and seeds . KLM’s complimentary staples—coffee, tea, water, orange juice and the signature stroopwafel – will remain part of the service.
Bas Gerressen, EVP Inflight Services, said the concept marks “the next step in enhancing the European travel experience,” giving passengers the ability to tailor their inflight choices to personal preferences.
The launch follows months of testing across multiple destinations as KLM explores a new catering model for Economy Class . It also builds on wider investment in the European fleet, including the addition of 16 Airbus A321neo and 25 Embraer 195‑E2 aircraft with modern seating, USB charging and larger overhead bins . Earlier this year, KLM also introduced complimentary Wi‑Fi on European flights.
For business travellers, the shift signals a more customisable, digitally supported inflight experience—aligning with a broader trend among European full‑service carriers toward flexible, choice‑driven catering models.
