PS Launches Miami’s First Private Airport Terminal in the Restored Pan Am Headquarters

Miami International Airport has officially welcomed its first private luxury terminal, as PS opened its new 34,000‑square‑foot facility inside the historic former Pan American Airways headquarters. The ribbon‑cutting marks PS’s first Florida location and its fourth worldwide, following its recent expansion to Dallas–Fort Worth.

Designed to allow travellers to bypass the main terminal entirely, PS MIA offers dedicated private check‑in, streamlined security and a fully personalised, end‑to‑end airport experience. Miami‑Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava described the opening as “a new chapter at MIA” and praised the revitalisation of the landmark Pan Am building, calling it a blend of aviation heritage and forward‑looking innovation.

The terminal preserves key architectural elements of the original 1960s structure, including Pan Am insignias, gold paneling and reflecting pools, all carefully restored as part of the redesign by RJ Heisenbottle Architects and interior designer Cliff Fong. Mid‑century Brutalist features are paired with terrazzo, marble, smoked glass and tropical‑inspired patterns to create a space that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

PS MIA offers two distinct experiences:

  • The Salon — a refined social lounge designed for solo and business travellers
  • Private Suites — fully private, residential‑style spaces offering maximum discretion and comfort

Both are supported by chef‑prepared dining, spa treatments on request, and private BMW chauffeur transfers between the terminal and aircraft.

Later this year, PS will introduce PS Direct, a door‑to‑door service transporting guests between aircraft and their home or hotel, further extending the private‑terminal model beyond the airport grounds.

Art plays a central role in the new terminal. PS collaborated with Miami‑Dade County’s Art in Public Places programme to commission Miami‑based Argentinian artist Nina Surel, whose ceramic and mosaic installations reinterpret Miami’s subtropical light and Art Deco palette through a contemporary lens. Additional works curated by Creative Art Partners bring together mixed‑media pieces from artists including Shaina McCoy, Neill Wright and Jaakko Pallasvuo, creating a vibrant, expressive collection that mirrors the energy of the city.

PS currently operates terminals at LAX, ATL, DFW and now MIA, offering a membership‑based model for travellers seeking privacy, efficiency and luxury within commercial aviation.

The opening comes as Miami International Airport undergoes a $14 billion investment programme, reinforcing its position as the nation’s second‑busiest airport for international passengers and a major gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.
