 Heathrow has just trimmed its 2026 outlook, and the Middle East is the reason. Europe's busiest airport now expects: Passengers down 1.1% to 83.6 million as the Iran conflict dents demand Adjusted profits falling £147m year on year, from £2.03bn to £1.88bn The irony? Traffic was actually up 0.7% to the end of May, partly because travellers rerouted through Heathrow as rival hubs felt the strain of the regional conflict. Meanwhile, the third runway argument keeps heating up. The government's own analysis now puts the GDP boost at just 0.05%, with a possible net hit of up to £62.5bn, while the CAA scrutinises who picks up the early expansion costs. Heathrow says the modelling misses £150bn a year in trade benefits and £33bn of private investment. A softer year at the gate, and a much bigger fight over what comes next.
