The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a cornerstone of international motorsport since 1991, has confirmed its continuity on the Formula 1 calendar through 2032.
The renewal, signed between Circuits de Catalunya and Formula One World Championship Limited (FOWC), ensures the track will host the World Championship in 2028, 2030, and 2032, alongside the already scheduled 2026 edition.
A significant evolution for the event is its rebranding. Starting with the race held from 12 to 14 June 2026, the competition will be officially known as the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. This change marks a new era under the management of Fira Circuit, a partnership designed to diversify the track’s usage and transform the infrastructure into a multi-purpose venue for large-scale cultural and corporate events.
Economic and Social Impact
The Grand Prix remains a vital engine for the Catalan economy. The 2024 edition alone generated an economic impact exceeding €300 million and supported 2,500 full-time jobs. With a global F1 fan base of 827 million, increasingly comprised of younger and female audiences, the event provides an unparalleled platform for projecting Catalonia’s image as a leader in high-level sports organization.
Commitment to Sustainability
The Circuit continues to lead in environmental responsibility, recently renewing its FIA 3-Star Environmental Accreditation. Through its “Driving for a Better Future” mission, the venue prioritizes 100% renewable energy, waste management, and biodiversity, aligning with the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
