Marriott International has opened Courtyard by Marriott Manado, bringing the contemporary midscale brand to Sulawesi Island for the first time and adding one of North Sulawesi’s largest convention centres to the regional business travel map.
The 202-key property, which opened its doors on 8 June, is the only international chain hotel sited near Sam Ratulangi International Airport, positioning it as a convenient base for corporate travellers, MICE planners and leisure visitors heading into one of Indonesia’s most striking marine regions. Part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, the hotel blends modern design with easy access to Manado’s business and retail districts.
The launch continues a busy run of regional debuts for the group, following the recent opening of Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan in the Philippines, and forms part of a wider pipeline of new Marriott openings across the Asia Pacific region in 2026.
The hotel’s 202 guestrooms and suites have been tailored to suit everything from short business trips to family getaways. Options range from well-appointed rooms with garden views and private terraces to spacious suites and a Presidential Suite with balcony access. Warm tones, intuitive layouts and modern amenities are intended to create a relaxed yet functional environment for guests to unwind or stay productive.
Wellness and family facilities include a 24/7 fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and a Kids Club, alongside laundry services and generous on-site parking for both short and extended stays.
Dining centres on the hotel’s all-day restaurant, set against serene garden surroundings and views of North Sulawesi’s volcanic landscape. The menu spans local and international flavours, catering for casual breakfasts through to evening gatherings, while the Lobby Lounge offers a relaxed social space for light bites, refreshments and informal meetings throughout the day.
The hotel positions itself as one of the city’s leading meetings and events destinations. Its convention centre comprises six meeting rooms, four junior ballrooms and three Grand Kawanua Ballrooms, accommodating up to 3,000 guests. Versatile indoor venues are complemented by outdoor garden spaces suited to receptions, team-building activities, barbecues and open-air weddings, giving corporate and social organisers a single, large-capacity venue in a market that has historically been underserved.
The opening also deepens Marriott’s commitment to Indonesia, a market where the group recently launched its first co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit card with Bank Mandiri.
Nestled between the highlands and the waters of Manado Bay, the hotel places guests within an hour’s drive of some of the province’s most compelling destinations. The coral reefs of Bunaken National Park — one of Indonesia’s first protected marine areas and a site renowned for world-class wall diving — sit just offshore, alongside the beaches of Likupang and the cultural city of Tomohon. The hotel is also close to Bitung, home to North Sulawesi’s largest seaport and the province’s industrial and logistics hub, broadening its appeal to both business and leisure travellers.
