Airport concierge specialist DiamondAir has opened a private space close to London Heathrow where passengers can check in, eat, work and unwind before being guided through to their flight. The DiamondAir Heathrow lounge, branded The Lounge by DiamondAir, sits a few minutes from the terminals and is described by the company as the first private, remote check-in space.
For UK business travellers who use Heathrow regularly, the pitch is clear: the queues, crowds and long walks that eat into a working day become someone else’s problem. DiamondAir, which has provided personalised meet and assist and concierge services for more than three decades, says the space is aimed at leisure, business, VIP and corporate passengers alike.
How does remote check-in at the DiamondAir Heathrow lounge work?
Passengers are checked in and relieved of their luggage before they reach the terminal, with bags collected in advance and carried through the airline baggage system. DiamondAir offers this remote check-in service from The Lounge itself, but also from any other location, including a traveller’s home or hotel.
Instead of heading straight for a terminal building, guests can wait at the lounge, which overlooks the runway. When it is time to board, the DiamondAir team manages the route through the airport, moving passengers from The Lounge to the terminal and then on to the aircraft. A dedicated VIP electric buggy is also available.
Inside the private lounge
The space is intentionally intimate. Alongside the runway views there is a private bar, discreet working areas and an a la carte menu that runs throughout the day. Breakfast includes Oak Smoked Salmon Blinis, DiamondAir French Toast and the signature DiamondAir Bloody Mary Tray, while lunch brings the En Route Club Sandwich, a Baby Gem and Walnut Salad and a choice of lounge snacks.
There is also KarmAir, a spa wellness space offering relaxing massages and jet lag revival treatments, which can be pre-booked. The whole of The Lounge by DiamondAir can be booked privately or hired exclusively, with services tailored to individual requirements, an option that could suit a leadership team flying out together or a firm entertaining clients before a long-haul departure.
Christina Lawford, Founder and CEO of DiamondAir, said the idea grew out of the company’s time working inside airports. “The Lounge was conceived directly from our experience of looking after travellers in airports for more than 30 years. We understand where the pressure points are, and how much of the airport journey can be taken out of the passenger’s hands,” she said.
“It’s designed for all types of travellers – leisure, business, VIP and corporate – because whoever you are travelling with or wherever you are going, the airport can be one of the most stressful parts of a journey. From the moment a guest arrives at The Lounge through to their gate, our role is to manage the journey, so they don’t have to worry about what comes next.”
What it means for business travel
The DiamondAir Heathrow lounge adds to a growing choice of premium ground services at the UK’s busiest airport, which already include Plaza Premium’s ALLWAYS meet and assist service at Heathrow. Services of this kind will sit outside most travel policy limits, but they can be worth considering for senior executives on tight schedules, client hospitality or trips where time at the airport has a clear cost to the business.
DiamondAir runs arrival and departure services at more than 630 airports and train stations around the world, covering airport navigation, language assistance, transfers and onward travel. Its partners include American Express, VISA, MasterCard, British Airways and Etihad, the latter of which is also expanding beyond flights with Etihad’s new hotel booking platform, Etihad Escapes.
