The Fairmont Monte Carlo has unveiled a striking full-property renovation to coincide with its 50th anniversary, redefining luxury on the Riviera while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and Monaco’s coastal heritage.
Originally inaugurated in 1975 by Princess Grace of Monaco, the landmark hotel now enters its next chapter with a sweeping redesign that encompasses guest rooms, suites, dining venues, event spaces, and environmental infrastructure.
Every one of the hotel’s rooms and suites has been reimagined in a palette of soft creams and sea blues, reflecting the Mediterranean’s serene beauty. Private terraces now offer enhanced views of the sea, lush gardens, or Monaco’s famed Grand Prix Hairpin bend. In a nod to evolving traveller needs, new Resort Suites tailored for families will debut later this year, complete with kitchens, large living areas, and panoramic balconies.
Fairmont Monte Carlo’s culinary offering has also undergone a significant transformation. Amù Monte Carlo, a rooftop restaurant named after the Monégasque word for “love,” delivers a Mediterranean-inspired menu against sweeping sea views. Its sister space, Amù by the Pool, brings laid-back dining and craft cocktails to guests lounging by the rooftop pool.
Nobu Monte Carlo, one of the brand’s flagship locations, now boasts an elevated design fusing traditional Japanese minimalism with Riviera flair—oak detailing, soft lighting, and coastal tones create a tranquil yet sophisticated setting.
The hotel’s Lobby Lounge Restaurant & Bar has been reimagined into a serene, 24/7 venue serving classic international dishes with modern touches and panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Its relaxed ambiance and imaginative cocktail menu make it a new social hub for guests and locals alike.
Fairmont Monte Carlo’s event spaces have been similarly enhanced. Le Grand Salon, now fitted with state-of-the-art technology and flexible configurations, can accommodate up to 1,500 guests—reaffirming the hotel’s status as a premier venue for high-profile conferences, weddings, and corporate gatherings on the Côte d’Azur.
Central to the hotel’s reinvention is its focus on sustainability. In partnership with SeaWergie and SMEG, the Fairmont Monte Carlo has integrated its energy system with Monaco’s pioneering thalassothermal network, which utilises deep seawater to sustainably heat and cool buildings. This investment included a major upgrade of the hotel’s original seawater pumping station, tripling its capacity and connecting it to a wider urban loop that now serves 10 buildings across the Principality.
The environmental impact is significant: the initiative is expected to reduce Monaco’s total greenhouse gas emissions by 3%, cutting almost 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually. This move marks Fairmont Monte Carlo as a leader in sustainable luxury and a key contributor to Monaco’s goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
With this extensive transformation, the Fairmont Monte Carlo is not only celebrating its illustrious past but also positioning itself at the forefront of responsible luxury travel in the decades ahead. The hotel’s renewed identity reflects a timeless sense of Riviera elegance, now paired with bold environmental ambition and a refreshed guest experience tailored to modern travellers.
