United Airlines has unveiled the biggest international network expansion in its history, confirming ten new international cities and three additional long‑haul routes for 2027.

The announcement was made at Newark Liberty International Airport and marks a major milestone for the carrier, which has added fifty‑eight international destinations since 2017 and now flies to more than one hundred and sixty worldwide .

Beginning as early as March 2027, United will launch new services to Okinawa, Toulouse, Luxembourg City, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Catania. Eight of these destinations are not served nonstop by any other US airline, reinforcing United’s position as the country’s most expansive transatlantic and transpacific carrier .

The airline also debuted its newest international aircraft, the Born to Explore A321XLR, which will operate several of the new routes. The aircraft introduces a redesigned United Polaris suite with privacy doors, free Starlink WiFi for MileagePlus members, four‑K screens with Bluetooth connectivity and a new Economy Plus layout that offers extra elbow room across an open middle seat. United expects to be the only major US airline offering this seating configuration .

Alongside the ten new cities, United will add flights from Los Angeles to Osaka, Washington DC to Milan and Denver to Paris, while also resuming service from San Francisco to Tel Aviv. The airline will serve more destinations in Japan, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France than any other US carrier, further strengthening its global reach .

United’s leadership emphasised that the expansion reflects a long‑term strategy to differentiate the airline and elevate the customer experience. CEO Scott Kirby highlighted Newark’s performance as the most on‑time airport in the New York area this year and described the A321XLR as central to the next phase of international growth .

With nearly sixty new international cities added in the past decade, United says its goal is to offer a destination for every type of traveller, from business trips to honeymoons and family visits. The airline’s senior network planning team described the expansion as a way to inspire travellers to discover new places and to demonstrate the scale at which United can connect cultures around the world .

Tickets for the new routes are now available on United’s website and app, with all services subject to government approval .
