The St Enodoc hotel in Rock is preparing to reopen its doors on 27 July, marking a significant new chapter for one of north Cornwall’s most recognisable coastal properties.

The relaunch follows an 18‑month transformation under Paul and Emma Ainsworth, who acquired the 21‑bedroom hotel overlooking the Camel Estuary early last year.

For business travellers, corporate groups and executive retreats, the refreshed St Enodoc signals a notable addition to Cornwall’s premium hospitality landscape — particularly as the region continues to position itself as a year‑round destination for meetings, incentives and leadership offsites.

A New Look and Expanded Hospitality Offering

The redesign, led by Emma Ainsworth and interior designer Eve Cullen‑Cornes, introduces a lighter, more contemporary aesthetic across the hotel’s public spaces, with further bedroom upgrades planned in the next phase of development.

Two new dining concepts will anchor the hotel’s food and beverage strategy.

• The Estuary Grill will focus on Cornish produce, with a menu built around local meat and seafood cooked over an asado grill, alongside dishes inspired by Paul Ainsworth’s heritage.
• The Flour Garden, operating seasonally from March to October, will offer an all‑day, family‑friendly format with pizzas, salads and soft‑serve desserts designed for relaxed coastal dining.

The hotel’s bar has also been reimagined, with a drinks list spanning local beers, Guinness on tap and a curated cocktail selection — a move aimed at strengthening the property’s social and evening trade for both residents and non‑residents.

Strengthened Corporate and Event Capabilities

For the business travel sector, the most notable development is the investment in flexible event and private‑hire space

• The Oyster Salon can host up to 100 guests, positioning the hotel as a contender for executive gatherings, strategy days and small‑scale conferences.
• The Porthilly Pavilion offers a second venue suited to private dining, leadership workshops and wellness‑focused sessions — a growing priority for corporate groups seeking restorative environments.

Plans to introduce a gym and wellness centre further support the hotel’s ambition to attract longer‑stay guests and offsite programmes that blend work, wellbeing and coastal downtime.

A Strategic Vision for Cornwall’s Evolving Hospitality Market

Speaking ahead of the relaunch, Paul Ainsworth emphasised the intention to create a property that serves both the local community and visitors travelling from across the UK, positioning St Enodoc as a destination with genuine all‑season appeal.

For the business travel market, the timing is well‑aligned. Cornwall has seen increasing demand for executive retreats, hybrid working escapes and incentive travel, driven by improved connectivity, a shift towards experiential meetings, and the region’s strong lifestyle credentials.

With its elevated F&B offering, expanded event spaces and renewed design identity, St Enodoc is set to play a meaningful role in that growth — offering business travellers a polished, coastal base with the flexibility required for modern corporate travel.
