Grande Lakes Orlando has unveiled what may be one of the most ambitious hotel experiences currently available to business travellers visiting central Florida, a private helicopter journey from the resort grounds to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
The Space Exploration Experience, launched as part of The Ritz-Carlton Orlando’s signature programming at the 500-acre Grande Lakes resort, combines executive-level logistics with genuine behind-the-scenes access to one of the world’s most iconic space facilities.
Guests depart directly from the resort’s front lawn by private helicopter, flying over the Vehicle Assembly Building, the Shuttle Landing Strip and Port Canaveral before landing for a full-day VIP programme. A dedicated concierge host guides visitors through NASA’s headline attractions, including the Shuttle Launch Experience, the Atlantis Orbiter, the Gateway Pavilion and the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
For those willing to push the boat out further, an optional upgrade offers a private tour led by a NASA Shuttle-era astronaut, though this requires seven days’ advance booking.
The day includes a rooftop lunch overlooking the Indian River and the space centre itself, alongside a guest speaker and a champagne toast at dusk before the return flight to Grande Lakes.
Each itinerary is tailored to the group, with the resort pitching the experience squarely at business travellers seeking something beyond the usual Orlando conference circuit. Capacity is limited to between one and five guests per trip, with prices starting at $2,650 (from £2,003) per person. Standard bookings require 72 hours’ notice.
For corporate groups looking to reward clients or add a memorable excursion to a Florida business trip, it represents a polished, if not inexpensive, alternative to another round of golf.
