Established over a century ago, MacArthur Place began as a family estate, vineyard, and operational ranch with esteemed trotters. Now, it stands as Sonoma’s premier luxury resort and spa, boasting lush grounds and renovated historic farm structures.

Tucked away in the core of Sonoma Valley’s Wine Country, MacArthur Place stands as an enchanting haven that effortlessly merges historical charm, opulence, and the splendour of nature. Founded in the 1850s by David Burris, this estate was initially recognized as the Burris Estate.

It was then renamed, “MacArthur Place” was named in honour of its location on MacArthur Street, which itself was named after General Douglas MacArthur. The establishment of Sonoma’s first bank at this site also played a significant role in the area’s development.

The property radiates charm with its expansive wrap-around porch and elegant living areas. Nestled within a lush six-acre estate, it boasts secluded gardens, meandering paths, and a chic mid-century swimming pool.

Each of the 64 luxury guest rooms is graced with calming textures, natural materials, and bespoke millwork. Features such as heated travertine flooring, indoor-outdoor showers, fireplaces, and considerate amenities like premium linens, unique artwork, Dyson hair dryers, bottled water, a provisions basket, evening turndown service, freshly ground coffee, and Grown Alchemist toiletries enhance the luxurious experience.

Layla is a Mediterranean “farm kitchen” offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner made from local produce, all served with a communal ambiance. The Bar at MacArthur features classic cocktails and bar snacks, or you can visit The Porch, a coffee shop open all day, selling local produce and sandwiches.

The onsite spa offers a variety of treatments, including a ‘farm to massage table’ experience that utilizes fruits, flowers, and herbs from the property’s gardens and adjacent vineyards in their lotions and potions. Additionally, they provide weekly yoga sessions.

Just blocks away, Sonoma Plaza beckons, or you might venture to nearby wineries and vineyards for a bespoke wine tasting experience. Alternatively, a short trip to the Napa Valley wineries could be on the cards. Or simply relax by the firepit and stargaze; there’s something for everyone.

Immerse yourself in history, relaxation, and the vibrant spirit of wine country. Where every moment feels like a cherished escape.
