No1 Lounge at Gatwick aims to deliver a boutique‑hotel feel before you even reach the runway, and on our visit it largely lived up to that promise.
We arrived at the tail end of breakfast, just as the team transitioned into the lunch service — a smooth handover that meant no awkward gaps in food availability. The breakfast spread was winding down, but lunch appeared quickly: a fresh salad bar, a warming soup option and four hot dishes that felt more substantial than the typical “airport lounge buffet”. It’s not fine dining, but it’s thoughtful, well‑presented and noticeably better than the terminal’s grab‑and‑go alternatives.
The space itself reflects No1 Lounges’ flagship positioning: soft lighting, comfortable seating zones, and a layout that balances sociable areas with quieter corners for working. Service is relaxed but attentive, and the atmosphere feels more like a boutique lobby than a high‑traffic airport lounge — impressive given Gatwick’s volume.
No1 Lounges operates 17 lounges across the UK and Channel Islands, including Heathrow, Luton, Birmingham and Jersey, with three distinct brands. The No1 Lounge concept is the most polished of the group, sitting above the more casual, Scandinavian‑inspired My Lounge and below the adults‑only, à la carte Clubrooms. The brand’s Heathrow Terminal 2 lounge has even been recognised as the World’s Leading Airport Lounge, and while Gatwick’s version is smaller and busier, it carries the same design DNA and hospitality‑led approach.
Overall, No1 Lounge at Gatwick offers a welcome sense of calm, reliable food options and a more premium feel than many independent lounges.
