At the world’s largest birdwatching tourism trade show, Brazil showcases to the UK market experiences featuring big cats, primates, whales, national parks, and ecotourism

Brazil reveals itself in birdsong, in the sound of rivers, in the movement of forest canopies, in the breaching of whales and in the quiet presence of jaguars. This living, diverse and ever-changing nature is what the country will showcase at Global BirdFair, taking place from 10 to 12 July in Rutland, United Kingdom. Under the concept Wildlife in Brazil, the country is strengthening its international positioning as a destination for wildlife, ecotourism and birdwatching.

Returning to the event for the second consecutive year, Brazil is investing in a larger, business-focused presence. Bringing together 12 co-exhibitors and destinations including Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso and Ilhabela (São Paulo), the participation combines conservation, marine life, community-based tourism, birdwatching, jaguars, whales, primates and higher-value itineraries. The aim is to put the UK travel trade in direct contact with a specialised and highly diverse product offer.

The focus on the United Kingdom reflects the profile of a traveller increasingly drawn to authentic, well-preserved and less crowded destinations. Among UK visitors to Brazil, 24% travel for nature and ecotourism, in a context of growing interest in forests, secluded beaches, mountains and waterfalls, as well as experiences linked to reconnection and wellbeing. This alignment between supply and demand is already reflected in visitor numbers, with arrivals from the United Kingdom to Brazilian destinations up 11.23% between January and May 2026, the strongest performance ever recorded for the first five months of the year.

“Brazil is home to one of the world’s most unique biodiversity. Against this backdrop, promoting wildlife tourism is gaining momentum because it connects the country with travellers seeking meaningful nature experiences, authentic local identity, and journeys that create lasting memories, learning, and personal transformation”, says Bruno Reis, President of Visit Brasil.

Brazil’s programme will include thematic talks on the country’s potential, with sessions such as “Your journey of discovery through the birds and nature of this extraordinary country begins here”, “Discover how to observe incredible birds and wildlife by region” and “Integrated Routes of the Amazon”. The presentations will highlight the diversity of experiences available in Brazil and the readiness of destinations to welcome visitors with safety, infrastructure and hospitality.

NATURAL PARKS ORGANISES BRAZIL’S OFFER IN PROTECTED AREAS

Global BirdFair will provide the stage for the presentation of Natural Parks (parquesnaturais.visitbrasil.com/en), a Visit Brasil platform that turns Brazil’s biodiversity into journeys that can be planned and booked. The platform brings together attractions, activities, infrastructure and access information to support operators and travellers in building itineraries across the country’s protected areas.

The platform features seven itineraries crossing 11 states, 32 environmental protection areas and 15 national parks, revealing a Brazil that can be experienced at different rhythms. The Route of Emotions connects Lençóis Maranhenses, the Parnaíba Delta and Jericoacoara on a journey through dunes, lagoons, rivers and the sea, while the Central Amazon Parks offer forest immersions, navigation along rivers and igarapés, ecolodges and contact with Indigenous and riverside communities.

The Cerrado Parks reveal one of the most biodiverse savannahs in the world, with rock formations, canyons, waterfalls and adventure trails. Completing the map are the Peabiru Trails, linking ancestral paths and Iguaçu Falls; the Southern Canyons, recognised as a UNESCO Global Geopark; and the mountain, coastal and gastronomy experiences of Between Sea and Mountains and the Capixaba Mountains, in south-eastern Brazil.

By presenting Natural Parks to the UK travel trade, Brazil reinforces protected areas as gateways to higher-value travel, capable of increasing length of stay, diversifying destinations and generating positive impact in the regions visited.

BRAZILIAN EXPERIENCES IN THE SPOTLIGHT

From birdwatching across different biomes to river safaris, from sightings of large mammals to river journeys, from stays on farms and encounters with local communities to marine wildlife experiences, Brazil’s diversity will be represented at Global BirdFair.

The Atlantic Forest leads Bahia’s offer, where conservation and birdlife appear in landscapes that go far beyond the coastline. In Boa Nova, Birdwatching at Lajedo dos Beija-Flores is a sanctuary with more than 460 recorded species, while the Rio do Brasil Reserve, in the south of the state, expands the birdwatching route through a protected area.

Between the Pantanal and the Amazon transition zone, Mato Grosso connects birds, jaguars and primates. Birding Pantanal showcases the birds of the biome, as does Birdwatching in the Garden of the Amazon, in São José do Rio Claro, with more than 570 recorded species. Beyond birds, the Jaguar Expedition offers the chance to observe jaguars in the wild, while the Cunhataí Porã Ecological Reserve focuses on primates.

Navigation, local culture and land safaris shape the experience in Mato Grosso do Sul. The Pantanal River Cruise travels along the Paraguay River on a hotel boat, passing through flooded landscapes, riverside communities and wildlife habitats. In Aquidauana, the Pantanal Safari combines a stay on a farm, photographic safaris in 4×4 vehicles, horse riding, hyacinth macaws, jaguars and research projects.

In Espírito Santo, visitation, research and conservation set the tone. The Águia Branca Reserve combines trails, environmental education and forest preservation, while the Kaetés Reserve, between Castelo and Vargem Alta, offers forest safaris and an observation tower.

The Amazon adds the presence of the tropical rainforest to the Brazilian stand through Uiara Amazon Resort, which combines comfort and jungle experiences in a fully floating resort. Reinforcing Brazil’s marine wildlife offer, Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo, presents experiences for observing humpback whales, seabirds, dolphins and turtles in their natural environment.

INTERNATIONAL PROMOTION STRATEGY

Brazil’s participation in Global BirdFair is part of Visit Brasil’s strategy to position the country in high-value segments and expand business opportunities for the international travel trade. The initiative is aligned with Plano Brasis – International Tourism Marketing Plan 2025-2027, which guides Brazil’s promotion abroad through the pillars of innovation, diversity and sustainability.
