Lee County will mark National Travel and Tourism Week (May 3–9) with its “Light Up Lee” campaign, illuminating landmarks across the region in blue to highlight the economic importance of tourism.
The initiative, launched in 2024, returns as part of a wider programme led by the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau to recognise the sector’s contribution to Southwest Florida.
Local officials emphasised the industry’s role in job creation, community development and the ongoing expansion of Southwest Florida International Airport. This year’s national theme, “Postmarked: Essential,” underscores travel’s impact on both local economies and cultural identity.
Tourism remains a major economic driver for Lee County, generating more than $5 billion in economic impact and supporting 31,000 jobs in 2025. The VCB will also share daily tourism insights, host customer‑service training sessions and prepare for its annual E Awards, celebrating hospitality professionals across the region.
The campaign aims to unite residents, businesses and partners in recognising the value of tourism and the people who keep the destination running.
