Minos Palace Resort, the adults-only five-star property set on a private peninsula in eastern Crete, has opened its new Infinity Lagoon Suites for summer 2026, completing a transformation that began with a top-to-bottom renovation of the resort in 2025.
Priced from £422 a night, the suites give UK business travellers a serious option for adding recovery days to a Mediterranean trip. Crete is one of the easiest Greek islands to reach from Britain, with direct seasonal flights from most major UK airports into Heraklion, roughly an hour’s drive from the resort, so there is no ferry hop or connecting flight to eat into a short break.
Private pools linked by a shared lagoon
Each suite sleeps up to two guests and takes in a 180-degree sweep of the Aegean, best enjoyed from a private outdoor terrace with daybeds. Inside there is a king size bed, generous living space, a walk-in shower, walk-in wardrobe and double vanity, with a private freshwater pool outside.
What distinguishes the development is the water that ties it together. A lagoon-style pool runs between the suites, flowing between private and semi-private sections so guests can choose seclusion or company as the mood takes them. Two sculptural islands sit within the lagoon, positioned to mirror the pair of real islands visible on the horizon beyond the resort, a piece of visual theatre created by landscape artist Greenways.
The architectural concept came from owner Gina Mamidaki, working with Dora Giakoumi, project developer and engineer at Bluegr Hotels & Resorts, while Maria Souliou designed the interiors. Locally sourced stone, curved forms, reflective water surfaces and Mediterranean planting feature throughout, with floor-to-ceiling openings and integrated outdoor living areas extending the rooms into their surroundings. The 2025 works reshaped what had been a linear, inward-facing building into something far more open to the sea around it.
Wellness aimed at the worn-out traveller
The suites are the final piece of a redesign that also covered the resort’s guest rooms, reception and food and beverage outlets, and introduced the Nao Longevity Hub, which offers custom sleep, nutrition, health and fitness plans alongside seasonal menus supported by integrated science. Activities range from luxury yacht cruises and private dining to cooking classes, sound healing, yoga, meditation, waterfront picnics and herbology and mixology workshops.
That mix will resonate with a growing audience. Research shows 60 per cent of UK workers now extend business trips into holidays, and an adults-only retreat with structured sleep and fitness programmes is a logical bolt-on for anyone flying home from meetings in Athens or the wider region.
Timing and practicalities
The suites are on sale for the summer 2026 season, though Crete’s season runs well into October, when flight and room prices tend to soften and the island is quieter, a useful window for SME owners who cannot get away in August.
