In February alone, more than 1.2 million tourists arrived in Brazilian destinations, with sustained growth in markets in Europe and South America

Brazil received more than 2.6 million international tourists in the first two months of 2026. In February alone, the country registered 1,287,800 visitors. This is the second-best result for the month and for the two-month period in history, positioning the period as one of the times with the highest flow of foreigners to national destinations. The data comes from Embratur, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Federal Police.

The number of entries in the first two months showed significant growth in European and South American markets. Portugal, for example, sent 29.7% more tourists to Brazil compared to the first two months of 2025, followed by Germany, with an increase of 17%, the United Kingdom (+14.5%), and France (+8.6%). Among South American neighbours, the number of Colombians increased by 37%, while Chile registered an 11.3% increase in arrivals compared to the same period last year.

This expansion across different continents contributes to the diversification of visitor origins and the reduction of regional dependencies. Argentina remains the main source country, followed by Chile, Paraguay, the United States, and Uruguay. The total number of arrivals in the first two months of the year is 52.9% higher than that recorded in the same period in 2024, when 1.7 million tourists arrived in the country. Arrivals were only surpassed by 2025, at -4.3%.

Shakira at Copacabana Beach

Scheduled for May 2nd, 2026  on the sands of Copacabana beach, the free concert by Colombian singer Shakira in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) is already reflected in the flow of foreign visitors to Brazil. The performance is part of the “Everyone in Rio” (“Todo Mundo no Rio”) event, which has already featured divas such as Madonna (2024) and Lady Gaga (2025) in previous years. According to a survey by Embratur, international tourists have already booked 8,477 airline tickets for the week of the Colombian singer’s performance, between April 26th and May 2nd, 2026.

The volume of reservations for this year’s show represents an 80.75% increase compared to the equivalent period in 2024 and almost equals that recorded for Lady Gaga’s show in 2025. The high demand proves that performances by world-renowned artists contribute to strengthening Brazil’s position, especially Rio’s, as an international entertainment destination.
