Zurich continues to evolve with confidence, and its hotel landscape is no exception. Over the past year, a series of stylish, design forward and heritage‑rich properties have opened their doors, adding fresh character to Switzerland’s largest city.
From a restored 15th‑century townhouse to a playful lifestyle brand debut, these recently opened hotels are helping shape Zurich into one of Europe’s most dynamic destinations for leisure, business and MICE travel.
Hotel Alden Splügenschloss Zurich – Leonardo Limited Edition (opened February 2025)
In the refined Enge district, the Alden Splügenschloss returned to the spotlight after a thoughtful renovation. Zurich’s smallest five‑star hotel now offers 22 individually designed suites inside a listed 1895 building, complete with original parquet floors and ornate stucco. The atmosphere is intimate and elegant, with à la carte dining available throughout the day at the Alden Restaurant and a cosy adjoining bar for evening drinks. It’s a boutique choice for travellers who appreciate heritage and discretion.
Mama Shelter Zurich (opened July 2025)
Bringing a burst of colour and creativity to Oerlikon, Mama Shelter Zurich marked the brand’s first Swiss opening. Set in the former Swissôtel building, the hotel features 178 rooms, a lively restaurant and bar, a banquet hall and a green rooftop with sweeping views across the city. With ten flexible event spaces for up to 250 guests, it has quickly become a favourite for both corporate gatherings and social events — all delivered with Mama Shelter’s signature playful edge.
Moxy Hotel Zurich Letzigrund (opened December 2025)
Zurich’s first Moxy arrived in Altstetten at the end of 2025, steps from Letzigrund Stadium and directly on the tram line. The hotel brings Marriott’s youthful, design‑led spirit to the neighbourhood, offering 162 compact yet cleverly designed rooms, a buzzing lobby bar and smart self‑service features. Three modern meeting rooms cater to small groups, while the spacious lounge doubles as a relaxed co‑working space. It’s a fresh, energetic addition to one of Zurich’s fastest‑growing districts.
Villa Florhof (opening summer 2026)
Looking ahead, one of the city’s most anticipated openings is Villa Florhof. Set within a beautifully preserved 15th‑century townhouse in the Old Town, the former Hotel Florhof will reopen as a boutique Lalique property. With just 13 elegant rooms and suites, a serene garden terrace, a refined restaurant and a vaulted vine cellar, it promises to be one of Zurich’s most atmospheric small luxury hotels — blending centuries‑old heritage with contemporary Lalique design.
