Air Canada has lifted the curtain on its most ambitious cabin redesign to date, revealing a new long‑haul interior concept at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.
The overhaul marks the first full expression of the carrier’s “Glowing Hearted” design philosophy and signals a renewed push to elevate comfort, craftsmanship and a distinctly Canadian sense of place across its fleet.
Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, said the investment represents a step change in how the airline wants customers to experience its brand, noting that the redesign is central to Air Canada’s wider growth strategy.
Debut on the A321XLR this summer
The first aircraft to showcase the new look will be the Airbus A321XLR, entering service this summer. It will introduce lie‑flat Air Canada Signature Class seats on a single‑aisle aircraft for the first time—an upgrade that positions the narrowbody for new transatlantic routes and a more premium experience on longer North American sectors.
Signature Plus Suite to launch on the Boeing 787‑10
Air Canada’s forthcoming Boeing 787‑10 will debut the Signature Plus Suite, a more spacious, privacy‑focused product at the front of the aircraft. The centre suites will feature companion seating and a retractable divider, allowing groups of up to four to dine or socialise together during cruise.
Upgrades across all cabins
Beyond the headline premium products, the redesign introduces improvements throughout the aircraft:
- New ergonomic seating with more personal space
- Larger 4K OLED screens with Bluetooth audio
- High‑power USB‑C and AC outlets at every seat
- Enhanced privacy wings in Premium Economy
- Expanded overhead bins
Design cues draw heavily on Canadian textures and tones, with red stitching, natural woodgrain, stone‑inspired palettes and bronze accents creating a calmer, more contemporary cabin environment. Boarding areas on the A321XLR will feature a backlit canopy of maple leaves, while the 787‑10 will greet premium passengers with a sculptural entryway inspired by Canadian waterways.
Wider fleet refresh underway
The redesign forms part of a broader interior upgrade programme. Air Canada’s A320 and A321 aircraft currently flying for Rouge will transition to the mainline fleet with updated cabins, while the Boeing 737 MAX fleet will move to Rouge from 2026. Air Canada Express aircraft operated by Jazz are also being refreshed and now offer next‑generation fast, free Wi‑Fi.
The airline says further enhancements to service, food and beverage, and amenities will be revealed later this year as it continues to roll out its Glowing Hearted standard across the network.
