All Nippon Airways has unveiled three new Pokémon-themed aircraft, dubbed Red, Green and Blue, to mark the 30th anniversary of the original Game Boy titles that turned a pocket monster into a global phenomenon, and business travellers on Japanese routes will be among the first to fly them.
The Japanese flag carrier confirmed the designs on its dedicated Pokémon Jet project page, with the first of the trio, Pokémon Jet Red, scheduled to enter service on domestic routes from late July 2026. Pikachu, inevitably, is front and centre.
Pokémon Jet Red, a Boeing 787-8, will carry a livery featuring Pikachu surrounded by the fire-type starter Pokémon from across the game series, from Charmander to Fuecoco, alongside Pombon, a new creature making its debut in the next mainline titles.
The aircraft will operate from Tokyo Haneda to destinations including Sapporo, Osaka Itami, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Okinawa, putting it on several of the corporate routes most heavily used by visiting executives. The timing is apt: UK SMEs are increasingly looking to Asia as a business travel destination, with intent to travel to the region up sharply year on year.
For travellers heading beyond Japan, the aircraft to watch is Pokémon Jet Green, a Boeing 787-9 featuring Pikachu with the full line-up of grass-type starters, plus Browt, another newcomer to the Pokédex. ANA has yet to confirm a launch date or route network, though aviation trackers at Flightradar24 expect demand to mirror the enthusiasm that greeted the carrier’s existing Pikachu and Eevee jets.
A third aircraft, Pokémon Jet Blue, will complete the set, though ANA is keeping its design and launch date under wraps for now, a cliffhanger worthy of the franchise itself.
ANA is matching the liveries with themed interiors and limited-edition amenities. Passengers will receive commemorative boarding stickers, strictly one each, the airline knowing precisely how collectors behave, while Economy and Premium Economy cabins will feature Pokémon headrest covers, for in-flight use only. Limited-edition cups carrying the 30th anniversary logo and custom cocktail napkins on international services round out the offering, the sort of small touches frequent flyers have learned to prize alongside more conventional perks.
ANA’s relationship with the Pokémon Company stretches back to 1998, and the new trio brings the carrier’s total number of Pokémon-themed aircraft to 14 over the years. The airline already operates two international Pokémon jets, the Pikachu Jet NH and Eevee Jet NH, serving Singapore, Vancouver, Sydney, Delhi, San Francisco and London, both expected to remain in service until around 2028. The partnership has even extended to the world’s first Pokémon-themed in-flight safety video, launched in 2024.
Nor is ANA alone: seven airlines worldwide currently fly Pokémon liveries, suggesting aviation’s most competitive battleground may be who can put the cutest creature on a fuselage.
ANA will publish event schedules, timetables and the full design of Pokémon Jet Blue on its project pages in the coming months. Until then, travellers can take comfort that 2026 may be the year business trips get a little brighter, and a lot more yellow.
