A design-led retreat called The Clayfield is preparing to open its doors in Niagara-on-the-Lake in mid-summer 2026, positioning itself as a contemporary addition to Canada’s wine-country hospitality landscape. Reservations are already being accepted.
The property takes its design cues from the region’s clay-rich terrain and surrounding vineyards, with interiors built around warm ochres, soft greys and natural materials. The look has been described by the hotel as “earth elegance”, a quietly luxurious aesthetic intended to feel rooted in the Niagara landscape rather than borrowed from elsewhere.
Central to the offering is a spa programme drawing on the area’s natural resources. Treatments will incorporate mineral-rich clay alongside grape-derived ingredients in what the property is calling vinotherapy rituals, designed to reflect the rhythms and character of the surrounding wine country.
The Clayfield has also announced a partnership with Stratus Vineyards, one of Niagara’s most established producers. The collaboration will see curated tastings, vineyard-led experiences and programming shaped around shared interests in sustainability and craftsmanship.
For the business travel market, the tie-up with Stratus opens possibilities for small-group incentives, executive retreats and bespoke wine-focused itineraries that combine productive offsite time with a genuine sense of place. Niagara-on-the-Lake has been steadily building its reputation as a destination for premium corporate events, and The Clayfield’s arrival adds a fresh, design-forward option to the mix.
With anticipation already building ahead of its summer debut, the property looks set to become one of the most closely watched openings in Canadian hospitality this year.
