Conrad Bora Bora Nui is set to welcome guests again from 1 May following a month-long closure for renovation, returning one of French Polynesia’s best-known luxury properties to the market at the start of the South Pacific high season.

The Hilton-owned resort, which sits on a private motu on Bora Bora’s southern lagoon, confirmed the reopening date through its social media channels. Although a full schedule of upgrades has not been published, observers on the island report that larger overwater bungalows with sunset-facing orientations are among the changes, a significant draw in a destination where bungalow aspect is one of the primary factors influencing booking decisions.

The timing is notable. The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso, one of the island’s other flagship luxury properties, is preparing to close for its own renovation at the end of May. Conrad’s return therefore plugs a gap in the premium end of the market at precisely the moment supply is about to tighten.

For corporate travel buyers and incentive planners, that shift in supply carries practical implications. With one high-end resort coming back online as another steps out, there is a narrow window of improved availability, and potentially stronger negotiating leverage, before peak-season occupancy takes hold.

The renovation follows the pattern set in 2017, when the property was rebranded from Hilton Bora Bora Nui to Conrad Bora Bora Nui, a move that repositioned it firmly in the upper tier of the island’s accommodation. This latest closure appears designed to sharpen that positioning further, with an emphasis on expanded overwater inventory and refreshed interiors aligned with Conrad’s global design standards.

Business travellers considering Bora Bora for executive retreats, C-suite leisure extensions or incentive programmes should note that the upgraded sunset-facing bungalows are expected to become the resort’s most sought-after category. Early booking is advisable: the combination of a newly refreshed product and the temporary absence of a key competitor is likely to drive rapid uptake, particularly through the June to October peak.
