Cromlix, the luxury country house hotel near Dunblane, has reopened its doors following a six‑month closure for a major renovation programme that marks a new chapter for the estate.
The relaunch introduces a series of significant additions designed to broaden the guest experience, strengthen the hotel’s culinary identity and elevate its wellness offering.
At the heart of the redevelopment are two new restaurants, each bringing a distinct personality to the estate. Cradle, an intimate 16‑cover dining room within the main house, offers a refined tasting experience built around small‑scale, high‑end menus. Alongside it, the Garden Room, a contemporary bistro set within a new glass‑fronted building overlooks the lawn and now serves as a social focal point for guests throughout the day.
The renovation also places a renewed emphasis on wellness and outdoor living, with the introduction of the Woodland Retreat, a dedicated space offering tailored treatments in a secluded setting. Additional facilities now include a sauna, cold‑plunge area, walking routes, a putting lawn and bicycles for exploring the wider estate, reflecting a growing demand for restorative, nature‑led experiences among leisure and business travellers alike.
Accommodation has been expanded too, with three new bedrooms, including a ground‑floor accessible suite, further strengthening Cromlix’s appeal to a wider range of guests and enabling longer, more flexible stays.
General Manager Barry Makin described the reopening as a milestone moment for the team, noting that the project’s scale and ambition represent a significant investment in the hotel’s future. “This has been an extremely ambitious project, and it is great to see it finally come to fruition after a lot of hard work by all involved,” he said, adding that the new additions have “really elevated” the estate and set the tone for the next phase of its evolution.
Cromlix’s refreshed culinary direction will also spotlight Scottish produce, with both restaurants drawing on ingredients grown in the estate’s kitchen gardens and sourced from local suppliers, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to seasonal, regionally rooted dining.
The reopening follows nearly half a year of construction work across the property, with the investment aimed at encouraging longer stays and expanding the hotel’s appeal beyond traditional country‑house breaks. Plans are already underway for further enhancements, including the relocation of historic gates within the grounds after receiving planning approval from Stirling Council.
With new dining concepts, enhanced wellness facilities and upgraded accommodation now in place, Cromlix enters the season positioned for renewed momentum and a broader, more experience‑driven guest demographic.
