370‑room four‑star hotel to open in 2029, expanding Dalata’s London portfolio to more than 1,400 rooms

Dalata Hotel Group has announced plans for a new four‑star Maldron hotel in Kensington, marking the company’s seventh property in London and strengthening its position in one of Europe’s most competitive hospitality markets. The Maldron Kensington will sit on Hammersmith Road, directly adjacent to the £1.3bn redevelopment of Olympia London, which is being transformed into a major new business, cultural and entertainment district.

The new hotel, scheduled to open in 2029 subject to planning approval, will feature around 370 guestrooms along with a full‑service restaurant, bar, dry gym and extensive business centre. The project will be delivered in partnership with long‑standing development partner McAleer & Rushe Property and involves the conversion and extension of a vacant office building.

Designed as an all‑electric property, the Maldron Kensington will incorporate advanced heat‑pump technology and is targeting a BREEAM “Excellent” accreditation, reflecting Dalata’s continued commitment to sustainable development across its portfolio.

Its location places the hotel at the heart of the transformed Olympia district, which now includes 550,000 sq ft of premium office space, more than 20 food and beverage outlets, a 1,575‑seat theatre, a 3,800‑capacity entertainment venue and exhibition facilities for up to 26,000 visitors. The wider development is expected to attract more than 12 million visitors annually. The hotel will also benefit from strong transport connectivity, with multiple Underground lines within walking distance.
