Hyatt has opened its first Hyatt Place hotel in Tianjin, planting the select-service brand’s flag in one of northern China’s most strategically important business corridors.
The 393-room Hyatt Place Tianjin South Railway Station sits in the Tianjin South Railway Station Business District within Perennial Healthcare City Tianjin, a large-scale integrated development combining healthcare, senior living, hospitality and commercial space. The site is billed as China’s first high-speed rail transit-oriented development to bring together healthcare, rehabilitation, eldercare and hotel offerings under one masterplan.
The opening continues the brand’s steady march across China’s secondary cities, following the recent debut of Hyatt Place Nanjing Xuanwu, and adds another property to a pipeline that helped push Hyatt’s first-quarter RevPAR up 5.4 per cent with a record 151,000 rooms in development.
For business travellers, the location is the headline. The hotel sits at the core of Tianjin South Railway Station, offering direct connections across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, where China has continued to expand its intercity high-speed rail network to knit the three economies closer together. Guests with downtime can reach cultural draws including the Five Great Avenues and the thousand-year-old Yangliuqing Ancient Town.
“Tianjin continues to play an important role in the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and we are excited to introduce the first Hyatt Place hotel to the city,” said general manager Li Yun. “Our goal is to deliver a stay experience that is efficient, convenient, and comfortable for the modern guest navigating work and life across these cities.”
Guestrooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, Hyatt’s signature bedding, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart climate control and 55-inch LED televisions, with separate zones to sleep, work and relax. Select rooms offer the brand’s Cozy Corner sofa-sleeper beds, while suites add panoramic city views and bathrooms with separate wet and dry areas.
The Kitchen, the all-day dining restaurant built around a sunroom concept, serves Tianjin-style breakfast specialities alongside classic Beijing flavours, Southeast Asian dishes and international favourites. A 24-hour fitness centre, indoor heated pool, yoga studio and 24-hour self-service laundry round out the facilities.
Meeting planners gain access to more than 3,000 square metres (roughly 32,300 square feet) of flexible event space within the wider Tianjin Perennial Hotel Cluster, supported by professional event services.
The debut lands amid a busy season for hotel openings in the market, with rivals including IHG also lining up a wave of new properties across Greater China in the first half of 2026, a sign that, for the world’s big hotel groups, China’s regional business hubs remain firmly on the growth map.
