Hyatt Hotels has opened the doors of Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview, marking the American group’s first property in Niagara Falls and giving business travellers a new 611-room base directly above the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

The 42-storey hotel joins the Classics Portfolio within the World of Hyatt loyalty programme and is, the company says, the closest Canadian hotel to the Falls themselves. Every room has been newly renovated, with a good proportion looking out on to the Horseshoe and American cataracts and the nightly illuminations that draw millions of visitors to the Ontario side of the border each year.

While Niagara is best known as a leisure destination, Hyatt is pitching the property firmly at the corporate market. The hotel offers more than 20,000 sq ft of meeting and banquet space, a business centre and concierge services, positioning it as a venue for conferences, incentive trips and milestone gatherings as well as weekend escapes.

“At the centre of one of North America’s most visited attractions, Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview gives World of Hyatt members and guests the opportunity to take in unobstructed views of a natural wonder,” said Katie Johnson, vice-president of global brand strategy for the Classics Portfolio at Hyatt. She added that the opening would allow members to “explore the beauty of the Niagara region” through the group’s growing Canadian footprint.

Located in the heart of the Fallsview district, the hotel sits within walking distance of the area’s restaurants, entertainment venues and casino attractions. It is a short drive from both Toronto and Buffalo, New York, and within easy reach of the main highways and border crossings serving the region, a logistical advantage Hyatt is keen to emphasise to meeting planners weighing up cross-border events.

Rooms and suites have been kitted out with contemporary furnishings and lighting, flat-screen televisions, Nespresso machines, beverage stations and mini fridges. Suites add separate living and sleeping areas along with upgraded amenities for longer stays. On-site facilities include an indoor pool, a fitness centre and laundry services.

Dining has been designed to dovetail with Niagara’s entertainment scene. The hotel houses STK Steakhouse Fallsview, the higher-end concept from the ONE Group, alongside a more casual TGI Fridays aimed at family travellers and informal corporate gatherings.

The opening forms part of Hyatt’s continued expansion across Canada and is expected to strengthen Niagara Falls’ standing as a destination for international business events, adding fresh inventory to a market that has long been dominated by a handful of established operators on the Canadian side of the gorge.
