Jet2 has for the first time reconfigured one of its Boeing 737-800NG aircraft into a dedicated business-class layout, in a significant step into the premium charter market that will see the Leeds-based carrier compete more directly for high-end group bookings.
The bespoke jet, normally flown in a 189-seat configuration on holiday routes, has been stripped back to 76 business-class seats, guaranteeing a minimum of 43 inches of legroom throughout the cabin. It is the first time the UK’s third-largest airline has offered an aircraft in this specification, and the move comes in response to what Jet2 Charter described as growing demand from clients requiring greater privacy, comfort and flexibility.
Available to book immediately for travel between October 2026 and May 2027, the aircraft is being pitched at sports teams, touring musicians, entertainment groups and other specialist charter customers, segments where low-density seating and attentive service typically command a premium.
Charter clients will also benefit from upgraded in-flight catering that can be tailored to specific requirements, delivered by Jet2.com’s cabin crew, alongside round-the-clock support from the airline’s dedicated operational team.
Trevor Caplis, Head of Charter and Airline Sales at Jet2, called the launch “an incredibly exciting development” and “a genuine game changer”, saying he expected strong take-up from sports, music and entertainment clients. “Our charter customers can now enjoy all the usual operational and cost-effective benefits of Jet2, but with the added benefit of a premium charter product too,” he said.
The development marks a notable departure for a carrier best known for its leisure operation, and signals a sharper focus on the executive-charter space at a time when demand for bespoke premium lift, particularly for sports and entertainment touring, has continued to strengthen across Europe.
