JetBlue and Barclays US Consumer Bank have announced a raft of new benefits for the JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard, adding companion pass statement credits, enhanced travel rewards and a wellness partnership, all without raising the card’s annual fee.

The refreshed package, arriving this spring, is designed to give frequent flyers greater flexibility both in the air and on the ground. Cardmembers who spend $15,000 in a calendar year will now earn a companion pass worth up to $500, while those reaching $75,000 in annual spend unlock a second pass valued at up to $1,500. The passes work as statement credits applied after both travellers have flown.

Ed Pouthier, JetBlue’s vice president of loyalty and personalisation, said the airline had been guided by customer feedback in shaping the upgrades, with a focus on delivering value that extends beyond the flight itself.

Among the headline additions is a 25-tile bonus awarded at the start of each calendar year, effectively placing cardmembers halfway to Mosaic 1 status and its associated premium benefits. There is also up to $300 in annual statement credits available through TrueBlue Travel for hotels, car hire, cruises and other bookings, together with a 15 per cent redemption rebate on TrueBlue points used for award flights on JetBlue or its partner carriers.

Existing benefits remain in place, including a complimentary first checked bag, anniversary bonus points and global lounge access. Cardmembers with eligible fares also retain complimentary entry for themselves and a guest to BlueHouse, JetBlue’s lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5, which opened with a residential-inspired design intended to evoke the feel of a New York apartment.

A second BlueHouse location is due to open this summer at Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal C, reflecting what the airline describes as a similar design philosophy tailored to the character of Boston.

In a further move to broaden the card’s appeal beyond aviation, JetBlue has struck a partnership with ClassPass. From later this spring, Premier cardmembers will be able to enrol for up to 14 monthly credits redeemable at fitness studios, spas, salons and gyms across the United States.

The enhancements come as US carriers continue to compete aggressively on co-branded credit card propositions, with loyalty programmes increasingly seen as a critical revenue stream and differentiator for attracting high-value travellers.
