PBH Unveils Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort After €12m Transformation
Portuguese hotel group PBH has expanded its Wine & Books portfolio to the Algarve with the opening of Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort, following a €12 million rebranding of the former VidaMar Algarve Resort. The launch marks the brand’s first coastal property and its third location, after establishing a strong identity in Porto and Lisbon with a concept designed to showcase Portuguese culture through contemporary hospitality.
The new five‑star resort sits five miles from Armação de Pêra, set within landscaped grounds filled with palm trees and overlooking the beach. The property features 250 rooms and suites, all redesigned to reflect the Wine & Books ethos of modern Portuguese style, local storytelling and elevated comfort. Guests can expect a strong sense of place, with interiors and experiences shaped by regional flavours, traditions and craftsmanship.
Dining is a major focus, with five restaurant concepts celebrating both global influences and Portuguese culinary heritage. A standout is Balcão da Tasca da Memória, a signature element present in every Wine & Books hotel. The venue revives the spirit of the traditional Portuguese tasca known for hearty, classic dishes reinterpreting beloved recipes for a contemporary audience. The resort’s additional dining spaces span relaxed beachfront options to refined evening venues, ensuring variety for both leisure guests and groups.
The opening strengthens PBH’s position as one of Portugal’s most culturally driven hospitality brands, blending design, gastronomy and local identity with a luxury resort setting. With its beachfront location, extensive dining offering and refreshed Wine & Books concept, the Algarve property is expected to appeal to both international travellers and domestic guests seeking a modern take on Portuguese coastal hospitality.
