Appointment strengthens Bermuda’s engagement with travel trade, incentive buyers and meeting planners across the UK and Ireland.
The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) announced the appointment of Black Diamond as its Agency of Record for Trade and meeting, incentive, conference and events (MICE) representation across the UK, reinforcing Bermuda’s strategic focus on growing high-value leisure, group and business events travel from one of its key international markets.
The appointment will see Black Diamond lead a targeted programme of travel trade and MICE engagement, including trade education, product development, partner activations, planner outreach, events, familiarisation opportunities and ongoing collaboration with airline, hotel and destination partners. Black Diamond is a London-based integrated communications agency specialising in travel with established travel trade and communications expertise across the UK and Ireland.
Bermuda offers UK and Ireland travellers, advisors and planners a destination proposition that is both highly accessible and genuinely distinctive: about seven hours from London, yet a world away in atmosphere, culture and setting. Across just 21 square miles, the island combines pink-sand beaches, turquoise waters, sophisticated hotel product, intimate island experiences and a rich cultural identity shaped by centuries of history and a distinctive blend of Black, Portuguese, British, Native American and Caribbean influences.
For meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), Bermuda presents a compelling alternative to larger, more conventional destinations. The island offers 170,000 square feet of hotel meeting space, more than 1,200 guest rooms in hotels with meeting space, an award-winning international airport with U.S. pre-clearance, and more than 20 nonstop flights from the U.S., the UK, and Canada. Planners can pair oceanfront resort venues and historic hotels with immersive cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, and distinctive settings, including historic forts, galleries, and waterfront spaces.
“The UK is a market brimming with potential for Bermuda, and this appointment signals a bold new chapter in how we engage UK travellers, the travel trade and the MICE sector. Together with our airline, trade and MICE partners, we’ll be rolling out focused initiatives designed to put Bermuda firmly on the map and inspire more visitors to experience everything this extraordinary destination has to offer,” said Jim Odoire, Managing Director, Black Diamond.
Momentum is already underway. Black Diamond recently organised and supported the Bermuda UK Mission in London and Manchester, bringing together key industry partners to build relationships, strengthen market visibility and open up new opportunities with travel trade and business events audiences. Airline partner, British Airways supported the mission with flight prize giveaways, underscoring Bermuda’s strong air access from the UK. British Airways lists the average London to Bermuda flight time at around seven hours and 15 minutes.
The UK programme will focus on keeping Bermuda front-of-mind with travel advisors, tour operators, incentive houses, corporate event planners and specialist MICE buyers, while showcasing the island’s ability to deliver high-touch, intimate and memorable group experiences. Upcoming activity will include trade and planner engagement, training, sales outreach, industry events, destination storytelling and partnership-led initiatives designed to grow consideration and conversion.
With its proximity to the UK, distinctive cultural identity, premium accommodations, celebrated pink beaches and versatile meeting venues, Bermuda is well positioned for clients seeking a destination that balances ease of access with the sense of arrival that makes incentive and business events feel meaningful.
