Setting a new benchmark in design-led travel, premium luggage brand Carl Friedrik is introducing its first aluminium luggage collection, blending mid-century design inspiration with modern functionality.
The new line brings a contemporary take on classic travel style, offering a sleek, durable option for today’s traveller who values both form and performance.
Crafted from a specially developed aluminium alloy for exceptional strength and durability, the Aluminium collection is the brand’s most hard-wearing range to date. Its timeless design draws inspiration from an era when travel was treated as an art form, pairing raw metal finishes with rich, vegetable-tanned leather accents for a refined, enduring aesthetic.
Niklas Oppermann, CEO and co-founder, said: “Aluminium taught the world how to move. From the commercial airframes to rockets venturing into space. With its grooved surface, steel rivets and lasting endurance, Aluminium plays homage to classic designs, repurposing mid-century principles to better serve today’s traveller”.
The initial release introduces The Carry-on (38L), a refined cabin case designed to accompany you on a lifetime of journeys. Additional silhouettes will be unveiled in late 2026. The Aluminium collection showcases carefully considered details that elevate the modern travel experience.
The Aluminium collection is available in three classic leather finishes: Black, Chocolate and Cognac. The natural colour palette creates a refined visual contrast against the industrial character of the aluminium shell.
“Consumers are buying fewer travel pieces but investing more per item, with longevity the decisive factor”, commented Mattis Oppermann, co-founder. “Aluminium continues to set the benchmark for luggage endurance. The collection represents years of development and testing, employing everything we’ve learned since launching our inaugural line in 2019”.
The release of Aluminium comes after a period of strategic retail expansion for Carl Friedrik, which recently opened a second London store, with its first North American location set to launch later this year.
