Business travellers heading to Las Vegas now have a new way to move between meetings, hotels and the airport, as Uber begins matching riders with Motional’s all‑electric IONIQ 5 robotaxis across key parts of the city.

The autonomous vehicles are available at designated pick‑up points along Las Vegas Boulevard – including Resorts World Las Vegas and Encore at Wynn —-as well as curbside in Downtown and the Town Square district near the airport. Uber says the operating area will expand over time.

Riders requesting UberX, Uber Electric, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric may be matched with a robotaxi at no extra cost. If selected, travellers can unlock the vehicle and start the journey directly through the Uber app, with in‑car audio prompts guiding them once inside. Those keen to try the service can boost their chances by opting in via the Ride Preferences section of the app.

Safety remains a central focus: Motional’s vehicles meet Uber’s Autonomous Safety Guidelines, and human support is available throughout each trip. For now, a vehicle operator will remain behind the wheel to monitor the road, with fully driverless rides expected to roll out by the end of the year.

For business travellers navigating tight schedules on the Strip, the launch adds a futuristic, zero‑emission option to Las Vegas’s transport mix — and marks another step in Uber’s push to scale its hybrid network of human‑driven and autonomous vehicles.
