Business travellers heading to the Côte d’Azur this summer will have a new way to beat the region’s notorious traffic, as Uber prepares to launch Uber Boat along the French Riviera from 26 June.
The service will allow passengers to book private boat transfers directly through the Uber app, including the highly anticipated Nice–Cannes coastal route
The launch is powered by Uber’s partnership with Click&Boat, Europe’s largest peer‑to‑peer boat rental platform, giving the company access to a fleet of around 50,000 vessels across Europe without operating its own boats.
A new way to move between Riviera hotspots
The service is designed to simplify what has traditionally been a premium, concierge‑driven experience. Travellers will be able to book private charters, skipper‑led day trips, point‑to‑point coastal transfers and leisure cruises directly through the app, removing the need for brokers or multiple booking platforms.
Uber Boat is being positioned as a practical alternative to the region’s gridlocked roads, particularly during peak season and major events such as the Cannes Film Festival. Journeys that can take more than two hours by car in summer can instead be completed by sea, with expected routes including Nice–Cannes, Cannes–Îles de Lérins, Nice–Saint‑Jean‑Cap‑Ferrat, Nice–Villefranche‑sur‑Mer and Cannes–Saint‑Tropez.
Premium pricing, streamlined access
While the service is unlikely to be a budget option — pricing will mirror existing Click&Boat listings, including skipper fees, fuel and deposits — Uber is betting on convenience rather than cost. Uber One members will receive 10% back in Uber credits on bookings.
Part of Uber’s wider travel push
The announcement was made during Uber’s GO‑GET 2026 event in New York, where the company outlined its ambition to evolve into a broader travel platform spanning hotels, flights, dining and event access. In France, Uber Boat will be available in Nice, Cannes, Marseille, Paris, Annecy, Saint‑Tropez and Toulon.
For business travellers, festival delegates and summer visitors, the arrival of Uber Boat offers a more seamless way to navigate one of Europe’s busiest coastlines and, in true Riviera fashion, a more glamorous one too.
