New research from CMAC Group shows UK businesses are increasingly worried about employee safety and transport reliability as international business travel rises again.

In a survey of 500 travel managers, 24% said traveller safety is now a major concern when staff go overseas, while 25% said their biggest operational challenge is securing reliable ground transport in other countries. With approved suppliers often unavailable internationally, 42% of managers rely on ride‑hailing apps — despite trusting managed services twice as much in high‑stakes situations.

Ashley Seed, CCO at CMAC Group, says many organisations are discovering that “domestic ground transport programmes aren’t fit for international purpose,” with fragmented booking systems and inconsistent standards creating compliance and safety issues.

The research shows a strong appetite for simplification: 70% of travel managers want all suppliers coordinated through one platform, and 76% say 24/7 international support would be highly valuable.

In response, CMAC Group has expanded its international offering, giving businesses access to more than seven million vehicles worldwide through a single managed platform with traveller tracking, consolidated billing and round‑the‑clock human support.

The findings form part of CMAC’s new three‑part white paper series, Out of Control: Why Ground Transport Breaks at International Scale. The first report is available now, with further instalments arriving in June and July.
