UK charter operator Zenith Aviation has collapsed into administration, resulting in all flights being cancelled and the loss of 41 jobs.
The company’s entire fleet has been grounded as administrators begin assessing the future of the business.
Zenith Aviation, known for private jet charter, aircraft management and engineering services across the UK and Europe, had been operating from its main base at London Biggin Hill.
Paul Hargreaves of Nexus Corporate Solutions has been appointed administrator and confirmed that the company had become insolvent due to cashflow pressures, unpaid debts and historic ownership and management issues.
Despite the collapse, the administrator said there remains hope that the business could be rescued or sold, with work now underway to assess assets and support former employees with statutory redundancy claims.
Zenith Aviation was acquired early last year by Opul Jets, which ceased control of the company in December. The acquisition included the airline’s UK‑issued Air Operator Certificate, its managed fleet and a fully accredited maintenance facility.
The collapse comes amid a wider rise in UK insolvencies, with new figures showing company failures increasing year‑on‑year across England, Wales and Scotland.
Zenith’s closure marks the latest disruption in the private aviation sector, leaving clients and partners awaiting clarity on whether any part of the business can be revived.
